Working in case study groups
Students are allocated to one of the 60 groups and each group consists of about 25 people. Working on the case study, students address the interdisciplinary subject to which they have an emotional and contextual association.
Freshers’ Week topics of recent years
The topic in 2006 was "Fashion and Trends, 2007 "Work-Life Balance", 2008 “Energy: The challenge of sustainable energy supply", 2009 "Intercultural conflicts and cooperation", 2010 “Media – Understanding, experiencing and producing", 2011 "Food Security – Escaping from hunger".
As a result of the introduction of the bilingual Freshers’ Week, the case study has been prepared in both German and English since 2013. In 2012 and 2013, the topic was "Development Strategies – A country sets out to shape its future”, 2014 and 2015 “Outlook Switzerland – risks and opportunities”, 2016 and 2017 "Swiss retirement provision risks – campaign challenge". The case study for 2018 and 2019 is "Digitalisation – Switzerland in a time of change".
